Japanese tattoo art 01/06/2012
I love tattoo art and design. Japanese art inspired tattoo art is especially interesting and beautiful. Its strange that centuries ago Japan's authorities would mark criminals with tattoos to distinguish them from the rest of the population, yet tattooing these days is fashionable. These men that were marked were usually discriminated against so tended to stick together, eventually forming organised Mafia style gangs now known as 'yakuza'. Tattoos were worn proudly as symbols of status and dedication, wives and girlfriends of family members often undergoing extensive tattooing, which can be seen in the above picture. I love the picture above. The Japanese flowers are interesting and pretty and are great for tattoo design, they are so colourful and eye catching although the above picture is black and white.
